Services
Individual Counseling
I work with a wide array of issues. In particular, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and insomnia. I also frequently work with people experiencing life transitions, grief and loss, relationship issues, and workplace conflict. You do not have to be experiencing a major life crisis to seek counseling. Therapy can be just as (if not more) effective for people who are experiencing minor difficulties or simply feeling unsettled in their life. Whether your goals are big or small, I’d love to help you find the resources and support that are right for you.
Telehealth and In-person
Currently, I am offering both in-person and virtual sessions through the HIPAA-compliant video platform.
Healthcare
Professionals
Through my clinical background, I am passionate about helping folks in healthcare - guiding physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals through the difficulties that arise in the medical field. There are some very specific issues that people in the healthcare field experience. Burn out, compassion fatigue, imposter syndrome, addictions, anxiety, and depression are just a few. If you or a loved one is in the healthcare field and wanting support, please call to find out more about specific services.
Grief and Loss
While grief and loss is a universal experience, for many of us, the grieving process can be the most difficult time in our lives. Grief comes in many forms and can be caused by a variety of events. The death of a friend, family member, or colleague is the most well-known trigger for grief. However, grief can result from an array of other events such as the loss of a job, home, ability, or lifestyle, or the end of a relationship. We all grieve in different ways and on varied timelines. While some do not seek professional help, others may benefit greatly from the support of a therapist or peer group.
InsomniA
Do you have trouble falling asleep? Are you frequently awake for long periods of time in the middle of the night, or unable to fall back asleep at all? You are not alone.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (2015) reports that “as many as 30-35 percent of adults in the US complain of insomnia.” The Annals of Internal Medicine recommends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) to be the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia. I provide CBTi through individual counseling as well as through 5-week group workshops. Please call to find out more.
Anxiety
Anxiety can often be hard to pinpoint. People describe it as racing thoughts, a noisy head, or distracting and relentless worries. Physical manifestations may include feelings of nausea, diarrhea, racing heart, difficulty breathing, shakiness, or tight chest. Some people have dealt with anxiety their entire lives, others may experience an abrupt and seemingly random onset of symptoms. Regardless of your experience, counseling can help to alleviate these symptoms and manage anxiety long-term.
Substance Use
Have you started to notice negative impacts from your drinking? Are you struggling to cut back on using marijuana or other drugs? Perhaps a loved one is drinking heavily or using drugs. Substance use issues do not discriminate. They can happen to any type of person at any stage of life. I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor in the State of Colorado and enjoy helping people change their relationship with substances. This process will be on your own terms; I am simply there to lend the experience, helping hand, and support/tools as needed.
Depression
Are you feeling less excited about things in your life? Lonely? Numb? Depression can often create shame and isolation, but you are not alone. The National Institute of Mental Health reported that 17.3 million adults in the U.S. have suffered from a Major Depressive Episode in the last year. Many more are likely to have experienced the less severe form of depression called dysthymia. Whether you’re feeling symptoms of depression or simply a bit more “blah” than usual, counseling can often be the most appropriate next step.
