Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is fairly eclectic, but I work generally from a psychodynamic perspective. This means that I see the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst and vehicle for enduring change. Through this lens, clients’ interpersonal relationships are central in the process of decreasing distress and alleviating symptoms. I believe that people have the intrinsic ability to improve and grow when provided with the appropriate tools and experiences. Thus, I utilize the treatment modalities below to help clients realize, learn, and practice such tools.

treatment Modalities

I have extensive training in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and CBTi (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). Many clients can benefit from CBT, as it is one of the most well researched treatment modalities for anxiety and depression. CBT helps clients to explore their self-talk (good and bad), eventually learning to challenge the less helpful thoughts and replace them with more effective and realistic thoughts and beliefs in the process.

Outside of the office

With the exception of a brief hiatus in Nashville, I have called Colorado home since 2010. Its culture, mountains, and boundless sunshine fill me up and are a critical part of my identity. When not in the office, you can find me taking advantage of Colorado’s endless outdoor activities. I particularly enjoy skiing, hiking, and spending time with family, friends, and my pup (who unfortunately no longer fits into a backpack).
